PaWikiLeaks

Islamabad 2022, New Delhi 3038, Kabul 2961...

If you understand Pakistan, since its inception; you’ll understand why are things the way they are.

Its like the entire world has been gripped by its own set of leaks, not to forget first it was the very recent global financial meltdown and the fact that anyone in Pakistan who lost their job during the same time was told it was because of that very reason and not because of the ineffective top management which not only lacked vision but a sense of direction and the ability to control and manage their own bad decisions too.

I wonder what goes on when no ones looking…???!??!???!!!? Isn’t this is what wikileaks are all about...the conspiracy mind goes beyond what is apparent.

So they are cables from the past, how would it help Pakistan in overcoming inflation, deteriorating law and order situation, weakening political and economic infrastructure-even as I make it a point to say this, some genius on TV thinks it “will”. While these factors still remain in question; we move to a more questionable past. Maybe because it makes easy macro-content for debate, useless or not the question is its impact on the economic capacity of my recently wed-driver to afford a kilogram of sugar for his entire household.

Leaks or no leaks; 50 people have still been killed in a suicide attack in Mohmand Agency amidst a peaceful Jirga. The reporter goes on to reporting on the incident, and that’s what is going to continue to happen, not his/her fault---regardless of it having political, social and economic implications. All we’re going to get to hear is the number of people killed, some whack-job taking responsibility, the annoying streak of condemnation. And completely ignoring the fact that how this one attack has taken away the livelihoods of many families in the longer-run. And the fact that no matter what ever compensation is given to those families it is just too little and too insignificant for rest of their lives - as we despite going through the same attacks for almost a decade still lack the institutional frameworks that support these very social structures when in tragedy.

Faithful Intentions and “A” Crappy love story

After watching overly sappy never-ending love stories, I still prefer ronin and saw (all parts). I do not like disgusting macho-chauvinistic mahaul, I also do not have a fanatical liking towards feministic approach to life in general.

So the story is…

About the lost dignity or not, its about the composure found or maybe not, it could be about the life left behind or even about the life caught on…

What ever it is at the end of the day, it’s about you, me (not us) and them. It’s about the false streak of a non-existent parallel universe, confused and belligerent that our excessively possessed minds believed in. So, no wonder! la vie est the way its meant to be.

Looking at the formatting palette I was wondering if life could be packaged on;

Alignment and spacing
Bullets and numbering
Borders and shading
Margins and theme

All this does exist but on a word doc. and on several other applications ofcourse; structured and defined ways of making more sense.

The point is… okay so, there isn’t any; it’s all in the head. Webbed!

So how does life move from point A to point B to C, D and E…it doesn’t, we drag our feet to work, we drag ‘em back home and rubbish whatever happens in between-most of us do this the rest just pretend. I do both, and consider myself lucky!!!

The checkered-top cooper outside my window parked in someone else’s garage is no longer there, ☹. I cant have a rotten day already it barely even began I haven’t even dissected anyone’s speech yet. Everything’s on pause. Without sparks and colours, life can be pure black, white or max - confused grey. The fakeness the lies of paranoia-stricken (dis)believers perpetuates them not to see the colours, nor the black, the white or the confused grey.

Life loses meaning everyday, everyday we negotiate with ourselves, make new set of promises, build hopes, complicate things a little further in a bid to simplify it little more, self tutor ourselves the art of forgetting, dream new dreams, believe in all the good things to come on a silver platter (yeah right as if…), plan to learn new things, plan to be more productive than yesterday or even the day before (which was just sitting on your high-back staring at the ceiling, wishing you were sober so you could concentrate)…

So how does life move from point A to point B, are spaces of experiences in-between worth telling, okay insufficient words have left me in a haze as I try to make up some lame ass story to justify my lost cause. Perhaps it may seem as if my purposes never matched my act but I do draw a straight-line walk on both sides and then figure out which signboard to follow, many lose me in the process. Theoretically speaking, in.dif.fer.ence is like a blessing in disguise, it helps when needed the most. So either you’re born with it, or you wait until life kicks you so hard in the face that it makes you make a conscious effort to pick on the trait before it’s too late.

Life is about people having a weird sense of humor.

Country Reports on Terrorism 2009

Office of the Spokesman
Washington, DC
August 5, 2010

The U.S. intelligence community assessed that al-Qa’ida and its affiliates, particularly al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), were actively engaged in operational plotting against the United States.

In 2009, the al-Qa’ida core in Pakistan remained the foremost security threat to the U.S. homeland.
Al-Qa’ida suffered several significant setbacks in 2009 due to Pakistani military operations aimed at eliminating militant strongholds, leadership losses, and increased difficulty in raising money, training recruits, and planning attacks outside of the region.

In addition, the number of imams, clerics, and former militants speaking out against al-Qa’ida increased.
The al-Qa’ida threat was more evenly distributed among its affiliates in 2009:

Al-Qa’ida in the Arabian Peninsula: The failed December 25th bombing was a stark reminder that AQAP has developed not just the desire but also the capability to launch a strike against the United States. Additionally, with attacks on Yemeni security services, as well as the attempted assassination of the head of counterterrorism in Saudi Arabia, Prince Mohammad bin Nayif, AQAP showed serious intentions to conduct attacks.

Al-Shabaab: Al-Shabaab controlled significant tracts of territory in Somalia. While more of an ally than a full-blown affiliate, several al-Shabaab leaders have publically proclaimed loyalty to al-Qa’ida.

Al-Qa’ida in the Islamic Maghreb: Due, in part, to its failures in northeastern Algeria and chronic financial troubles, AQIM increased attacks and kidnappings for ransom against Western targets in northern Mali, Mauritania, and Niger in an effort to raise funds. Its operations along under-governed borders in the Sahel posed challenges to coordinated state responses.
Al-Qa’ida continued its efforts to encourage key regional affiliates and terrorist networks to pursue a global agenda, using both the Internet as a means to distribute propaganda and telecommunications infrastructure to plan attacks and coordinate movements. Going forward, this will be an area of continued focus for the United States.

Iran continued its financial, material, and logistical support for Hizballah, HAMAS, and other terrorist and militant groups throughout the Middle East and Central Asia. Syria also continued to provide safe-haven as well as political and other support to HAMAS, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine-General Command, and a number of other designated Palestinian terrorist groups.

The U.S. addressed the state insufficiencies that allow terrorists to operate freely by promoting effective civilian law enforcement, good governance, and the rule of law. A major focus of this work involves effectively building capacity and making counterterrorism training for police, prosecutors, border officials, and members of the judiciary more systematic, more innovative, and far reaching. Dozens of countries have passed counterterrorism legislation or strengthened existing laws that provide their law enforcement and judicial authorities with tools to bring terrorists to justice.

The National Counterterrorism Center (NCTC) provided a statistical annex to the report. It cautions against placing too much emphasis on the use of attack data to gauge success or failure of our counterterrorism efforts. In 2009, 11,000 terrorist attacks occurred in 83 countries, resulting in more than 15,700 deaths. Attacks decreased by about six percent in 2009 and deaths declined by about 5 percent. This marks the second consecutive year attacks and fatalities decreased. The largest number of reported terrorist attacks in 2009 occurred in South Asia, which also had, for the second consecutive year, the greatest number of fatalities. Together, South Asia and the Near East were the locations for almost two-thirds of the 234 high-casualty attacks (those that killed 10 or more people) in 2009.

Clinton@PNCA

US to focus on Water
During Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s visit last October, people raised several issues over and over again, including water, energy, health, jobs, as US hadn’t really focused on water before the dialogue began. Now they are and it is one of their most productive task forces. Earlier today, Clinton announced the construction of two hydroelectric dams, the rebuilding of municipal water systems in Peshawar and Jacobabad, improvements to water systems for millions of people in Southern Punjab, the renovation of three hospitals – Lahore, Karachi, and also in Jacobabad. All these projects were made possible by the Kerry- Lugar-Berman.

Energy and water are among the two highest priorities of US. As an additional aspects to US energy program, it will complete the dam and the powerhouse at Satpara Dam; and the dam, the powerhouse transmission at Gomal Zam Dam. US is working on a study on the Multan Northern Generating Company repowering to try to determine how it can convert the aging and inefficient multi-thermal power plant into a more efficient station. US is funding a biomass-fueled boiler feasibility study for Bulleh Shah Paper Mill and are also looking at the Gharo Corridor for a wind farm feasibility study. Beaconhouse schools will be provided solar power.

US wishes to see that steps were taken in the last six, seven years to open up more interaction in Kashmir, to open the bus routes, to create more opportunities for the people of Kashmir to be built upon in a way that would allow both sides to concentrate on internal development instead of so much of their resources going into standoffs on glaciers.

noBrainer, dont bother

I am waking up everyday with nobrainer.com stuck in my head. Its temporary I can tell, but what if it isn’t. Now that’s scary! So am I stuck…? I think I’ll ask someone who is intelligent and wise, and has seen better ways of life than I have. I went over some symptoms just incase; let’s see, so I thought I should ask myself these questions and be honest about them rather than have someone else assess me-or judge, we really like to judge and assume this self-proclaimed absolute authority over other people’s lives.

• Am I unable to sustain attention and concentration? (Affirmative)
• Am I easily distracted? (Affirmative)

• Do I develop inappropriate levels of activity? (Affirmative)

• Am I impulsive? (Affirmative)

Hmmmmm!!!! It doesn’t feel as bad as it looks. Hahahahhahahhahahaa…I’ll survive whatever my scores are. I keep replaying the same tune "hor vi neevan ho"; I tell myself to believe this and ‘not just in theory’…

I am connecting indiscriminate occurrences in my head as if I’m some kind of conspiracy theorist, not that it hurts the head, but I must admit that it does get very exhausting. I have done nothing for the past 24 hours, okay that’s a lie. I did work on the matrix, a project I look forward to everyday-and keep playing myself this hypothetical day in my head, the day this project really happens. My mind lapses every two minutes as a hazed web takes over each of my thought. Things aren’t so simple and yet they are, the complexity of different auras confuses the air creating a vacuum. I have carved myself a more meaningful void. It helps me protract my sanity, cull my composure and lose my anxiety. Thank God my life isn't a dot-to-dot :D. That would've been painfully sad.

88 million poor

Oxford Poverty and Human Development Index and the UNDP Human Development Report has launched a Multidimensional Poverty Index

The index gives a broad-scale picture of people living in poverty.

The measure assesses the nature and intensity of poverty at the individual level in education, health outcomes, and standard of living.

Pakistan scores an unbelievable 0.28 per cent on Oxford’s new and innovative multidimensional poverty index. The percentage is on the upper end of he bracket. Pakistan is slightly better than India that too because of its concise dimensions. India hit 0.30 with over 800 million poor residing without the basics.

The table reports various descriptive statistics of Pakistan.

The indicators were distributed among sectors concerning Education, Health and Living Standard, which were the main components of MPI.

Pakistan percentage contribution of each indicator in descending order;

-Child Mortality
-Child Enrollment
-Schooling
-Sanitation
-Cooking Fuel
-Floor
-Assets
-Drinking Water
-Electricity
-Nutrition

Hence health and education being the key dimensions affecting millions of Pakistanis living below the required human development index.

Friends turn foes turn friends turn…

Water-sharing is turning out to be one of the most critical yet solvable challenges that our irrigation is facing.

Recently, the Balochistan Irrigation Minister has threatened Sindh of stopping its water supply to Karachi if it fails to release it’s due share. Crops spread over millions of acres in Naseerabad and Jaffarabad have been destroyed due to Aitch-two-O’s shortage. (update: IRSA's officials have resigned over CJ Link Canal)

But the good news this time around is that it isn’t Punjab. The blame falls on Sindh. So we wait for the next bulletin to see, how Sindh deals with Balochistan or the foreseeable Karachi’s water crisis.

It sometimes makes one wonder keh who’s lying ‘now’. Is it Punjab’s Irrigation, or is it Irsa or The Politicians. I know if nothing works lets blame it on RAW or Mossad.

Waisey bhi who would’ve known a decade ago that water is going to turn out to be such a HOT commodity.

Abrar did (thesis coming up very soon!)

It’s a completely new dimension for those people who chose to live in ignorance and thought that their generations to come and the next will out-live this exceptional yet scarce resource.

‘WATER’ the 360 Degree Masla!

However, staying with the irrigation issue, the inter-provincial conflict dates back to pre-partition, later when the fed interfered and allocated water on adhoc basis, mostly favouring Punjab; That there was one friendly moment in ’91 when the four chief ministers agreed on the Indus Water Accord. Regardless of which what started pre ’47 continues till this day.

The Representatives continue to resign every day, as they fail to tackle the resentment and fall through on the assurances and the re-assurances over the formula for the distribution. Many realize that the country despite relying on the sole Indus River System is being exposed to the increase in demand for consumption, exploitation of groundwater, to the sinking tube wells etc etc. And then 'we' are not too keen on building dams either, yet willing to live with a possible food crisis and without the power supply...why because 'we' find ways of being numb to our rights that the state has promised.

titleless

No matter how technical this may sound, our media is not formulated nor is it strategized; its too market and lessee of an agenda oriented. Which makes it isolated in-terms of coming up with a common platform; however so that it has even spoiled the advertisers with all that TPR bullshit, no one is least concerned with what they put on-air, or even if they are it just doesn’t fall through for the ordinary.

The question is; should media of any given specific country formulate a common platform? Through which quality can be assured, with so many channels beaming with their loud bokharis, painful mirs and killingly-boring kamrans; how does the next generation breaks the status quo? How would they be able to tell what is expected from them, when all they are guided by are waging bunch of seths (sait, saith, sayth, seith…or whatever). The culture so dominating the industry that it has actually put the ordinary in a state of constant variance.

I mean why are they so many news channel neither of which are global, and its not like we’re as big as US of A or even In-deee-Aa.

Where’s the progression; when the governing system is ineffective and inefficient, the establishment is engaged in a war within, who plays what role when the stage that was put up back in ’47 is up for grabs.

Should our media evolve or revolutionize? Do we at any point become progressive, and convey messages for the greater national good?

Its amazing how the frenzy social media networks have more of an progressive approach then the conventional media, with constant flow of information, every second is dedicated to a tweet, every hour to a blog, every forth to errrrrrr…I don’t know and I don’t give a crap.

I don’t have anything to do with the 18th amendments and the restoration of judiciary (yes I am still whining over what happened was it last year…God!!! look what it has done to me), I need to know how I can help Pakistan, how I can help the poor people, how I can save water, how I can create opportunities even if they’re just insignificant, how we become a low carbon economy when green age is going to hit us and now who is going to tell me all that, when the media is sooooo hooked onto shoaib-sania saga; sania had Iranian food for lunch, shoaib’s house is all lit-up, oh the couple just sneezed-the health ministry was called in, one of the news channel ‘the giants’ ran over six packages – sixfuckinpackages on the two, like of all the crises situation we’re in right now , the most important of all are the sania and shoaib happening in Pakistan, I quote my brother after the never-ending love story, “soon it’ll be a part our curriculum and we’ll be celebrating it as national holiday ‘the san-sho day’ …”

We live in a country where 6-year old girls are married to 70-year old men, where daughter-in-laws are burned alive, they get buried, they’re murdered over a certain so love-interest, or even used as a compensatory tool to settle a tribal feud.

My beliefs are being constantly doctored everyday, I was already random and I thought the News Industry was IT for me-four years later I have started looking at it from the outside, and yes I can tell;
"heaven from hell
blue skies from pain
green field from a cold steel rail
smile from a veil" (PF)

We need to put in alot of effort. More Hours, Less Sunshine!

puzzle, de-puzzled

We were flying at the speed of….errrrrrrrrrrrrr…I forgot…was some thousands of KM…over 33,000 feet above the ground…wow!!! and my altitude doesn’t go beyond 5’3 unless obviously I add 3-4 inches of still-lets.

3…2…1 Touch Down

Despite the fact that I hate flying, cant stand confined spaces…I somehow still manage to take pride in our airlines…PIA has the bestest take off’s’ and landing ‘s’…so I believe…if not the 'bestest' food and flight attendants…

I reached my ‘gawn-ow’ at around 1640 hrs…I saw the numbers on the screen plunging as the ‘craft made its descent…random thoughts were flashing through my head…the ‘what if kinds’.

*final destination and alive types*

I was standing waiting for my one-piece luggage, had I only paid attention to what I was packing my things into I wouldn’t have embarrassed myself by accidently taking someone else’s stuff thinking it was mine…when half way through it hit me that mine wasn’t as heavy…I took it back, nevertheless with the same amount of perseverance, placed it on the rolling-track and acted like nothing had happened though in a very ‘sheepish way’.

I scavenged my way through unfamiliar faces looking for the one I knew, found him. ‘the driver that is’…the one who used to drive us to school everyday (the need to elaborate).

So I hop in the car, the weather seemed fine and all that scary talk about how I’ll melt in the heat melted away amidst all that green and the good-looking people. Now that I was here I couldn’t complain nor did I want to. Instead a day later shit happened at work, so I grumbled over that and not the fact that La-Whore has been practically without power supply since 2007…2fuckinthousandand7…Man!!!

People have a countdown...its like ‘the power’s gonna go around 8…'fill the buckets with water, incase it stays off for more than an hour'…so it happens...comes back around 9…by the time they realize its back on…its already 10…and ‘tripppppppp’…the UPS which has lost the life of its own gives in its last two second before that too turns itself over the MIGHTY ole’ WAPDA.

It wasn’t this bad even back in October 2007...it was until November that same year-when we moved to the city of nothing but the bridges, that this city went crazy.

Things change in Lahore but not the Lahoris’. I haven’t either, nor have my friends-still crazy and laidback mahaul! When I got here I had this feeling of being born again, only this time around I wasn’t crying-not that I remember if I was when I was born-born for real.

My nani constantly panicking after every hour, wanting to know the status of my locale and when I was coming back….arghhhhhhh…reminding me of my fretaholic maa!!! Love them both to bits and pieces and allover again.
Me and mamu having endless debate over corrupt politicians and the inefficient nizaam over Javed Chaudhry’s ‘ajj tak’ or was it ‘kal tak’…never been good with names especially the insignificant ones. Not my idea of vacationing, but we still manage to pull off the most ridiculous and non-coherent conversation ever. Love it!

Oh there we go again, we had power for like what two seconds and the providers must’ve thought hell that’s long enough. They don’t deserve the right to a decent life in any case so why even spoil their habits by following the schedules. Meeting a friend; say what’ like after a gazillion years…my fascination towards the ‘illions’ just grows with every piece I jot-its nauseating.

*weirded out* I was told that I need to get sorted. Didn’t see that coming always thought that I was the most sought after person… :D

I was beginning to lose concentration and the reasons why I needed to get away; so instead I think I’ll shop and meet more friends, until I get back home.

BACK!

life on a side-note

I remember the time when we were normally asked in grade-so-very-primary to cut out margin line for our rough work in maths. It is amazing how even during those days I wanted the whole thing to be neat and perfect...imagine…I was seeking perfection in rough work aswell….hahahahhhahahahahaa…things had started getting retarded from then on.

Today, we’re yet again on another losing streak. An intern-highly-dedicated-highly-intelligent-highly-professional is writing in a goodbye note because most cannot fathom the fact that they are people around who are far better than they are.

We are in a sad conflicted state of ignorance.

Anyhoo, since life goes on and we continue to play ‘gari tou challana babu’ still believing in the 80 percent of the 20 rule.

Some people are like a dream, working on my intern work on a report on Nazia Hassan made me feel this way, and yes on too many other occasions the feelings weren’t any different-but back then-didn’t have the words to describe them.

I have been listening to Nazia Hassan, though her music is still innocent but she herself was like a dream, that many must've had.

Khair, as weird as it may sound I can watch hanna montanna with my baby sister when I am lost in my own head…drink frozen strawberry shake when I am coughing my lungs and eyeballs out…then later manage to take some meds for it…and that too only because an angel whispers in my ear to do so.

I listen carefully to my guardian angel or atleast I try.

30/100

I have never been to Las Vegas, last night when I looked up at the Karachi Sky; I imagined myself to be looking at a Vegas Sky. The stars, the moon and the dark-deafening sky with the silver-lining just like in the songs - were all there, but there was still something missing.
I take the sharae everyday, at whatever time-I feel like I have spent most of my life taking the same road leading to the same place twice a day, day-in night-out – getting this feeling of a 'bloody fixation' of some sort. I know I scored 30. Shyte, the day I took the test I thought I was going to ace at it…hahahhahahahaaa…I was soooooo wrong!
Infact I did ace at it, it was just the other way round.*Check this-Check that-Oh I feel that-Oh I feel this-Oh this is soooooo cool I am getting all my answers right-had I done this well in college I would've done God Knows what-if not the FPD.
It hit me that day, that all my usual behavioral patterns were anything but normal. And yet I still manage to runaway from my sessions. Its amazing how we could have such a basic function of deleting memory on a computer and not have a similar option in life, unless ofcourse one loses it in a tragic way. Ab, I don’t wish for that, that’ll just be too lame :D. I am trying to figure out what my first thought was the last time I went to the beach and my feet touched the water…the toes…you know how when you're feet are in the sand and you see the wave coming towards you and as the sea approaches your head starts to think-make up ajeeb thoughts-its that first flicker that I am trying to get at.
My head is being demonstrated in a weirdly mired way…its like in movies when jim carrey takes long steps (all in slo mo) making bizarre faces into the camera. My mind's all J-I-M.
Living in my own head, there’s not enough space for anything else anymore, but only if I could squeeze one teeny weeny thought into it, there could be a New World Order!!!!!
My tv set is on a standby mode and that freakkin red light is soooooo annoying, only if I had turned it off while I was still roaming around the room. Damn it! Life could be pained so easily-its pathetic.

H2O

Our future generations may just run dry, if we don’t care now.

We need to save water, save some now.

Or are we too bogged down in the littleness of things we have.

Not thinking about what if there wasn’t any water tomorrow, what then eh?

Can we manage water we have now?

Or should we wait for the next generation.

But who’s going to tell them.

Should we start telling now?

Because what we had bizzillion of years ago is all we got…
is all they got...

2010: we’re the Peasants, where are our ‘lords (QuestionMark/Not)

We live; okie so I’ll write for myself here…I live in an air-tight jar. That Jar is the country, the city, the house, and the company I spend my days in.

As I wait for someone “anyone” to poke holes in the jar if not open so I could breathe better, insane (could be wise for many like myself though) thoughts cross my mind. “God…I have choices, where am I headed if it’s no where I want”

This morning, I freed a bird; it reminded of me and not that I aint free. There was a weird sense of helplessness around 'watching some living thing hardly the size of my palm trying to escape through the closed-glass-windows of my house'. For a brief moment there I may have become some sort of a ‘lord to that bird. :D

Yellow skies and Straw Hats, rhythmic blues of failed hearts
Reminds me of…

(I seriously don't know where that came from :D)

First day of the year and I am De-tracked and hazed as I work through the day plugged to Little Wing.

“Little Wing” is my ‘lord of the day! (hallelujah)

And before my Multiple Lords remind me…THANK GOD…I remember Zulfi – the guy deserves a PLAN; the best there could be. He was a ‘Lord for many…then there was one waiting for him too.

The Jars tight for everyone, I guess.

I miss the winter-sun; but the tubes burn my eyes, gone beyond and over with the system that is sooooo corrupt - it is far from ramifications. Is the ‘Lord watching his Peasants?!!!????!!??
